NASA Space Apps Challenge 2026 — Tashkent

The world's largest annual global hackathon returns, and Tashkent is confirmed as one of the 450+ registered Local Events for the 2026 edition. Over two days, teams use open data from NASA and its Space Agency Partners to build solutions to challenges on Earth and in space. Theme: "The Next Frontier" The 2026 edition asks participants to think past conventional boundaries and build for Earth, space, science, technology and humanity's future. When & where

  • Note the date shift: previous Tashkent editions ran in early October (4–5 October 2025, 5–6 October 2024)
Key dates
  • 26 August 2026 — registration opened; participants pick a Local Event when they register
  • 17 September 2026 — challenge topics revealed
  • 28 October 2026 — full challenge statements released, together with NASA and Space Agency Partner data sets
  • 14–15 November 2026 — hackathon weekend
  • 16 November 2026 — judging begins
Who can take part Participation is free and open to all ages, skill levels and professional backgrounds — coders, scientists, designers, storytellers, makers, builders and technologists. Seventeen space agency partners take part alongside NASA. Previous Tashkent editions have been hosted on university campuses, with Tashkent University of Information Technologies (TUIT) leading the 2025 event. Registration Register on the official Space Apps site and select Tashkent, Uzbekistan as your Local Event. Registration stays open until the hackathon closes on 15 November.
